Asianovela

Asianovela is the local name of asian soap operas imported in the Philippines,derived from the conglomeration of terms "Asia" and novela, ("novel"). They are further categorized as Tsinovela for serials from China and Taiwan, Koreanovela for serials from South Korea, and Jaidorama for serials from Japan.
Asianovelas are aired by the two main Philippine TV networks ABS-CBN, which is Philippine's largest importer of asianovelas, GMA Network. Asianovelas are also aired on other Philippine TV networks.

Asianovelas were first called as Tsinovela. The term Tsinovela was first used by IBC-13, in 2003 for the promotion of it's new show The Amazing Twins. On that same year ABS CBN also introduced the highest rated asianovela in the Philippines, Meteor Garden. It was known to be the first asianovela. The phenomenal success of Meteor Garden started the Asianovela fever in the Philippines.
