Asian Aerospace
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Asian Aerospace (AA) is an international trade fair for the aerospace business. It had been based at the Changi Exhibition Centre near the Singapore Changi Airport, it is the biggest airshow event in Asia, and was touted by its organisers as the "world’s second most influential airshow" [1]. Held once every two years, the most recent show was held from 21 February to 24 February 2006. Asian Aerospace will be relocated to Hong Kong starting in 2007 with the first show in September 3 to September 6, 2007. [2]
Jointly organised by Reed Exhibitions and Singapore Technologies Engineering Group (ST Engineering), it saw 759 exhibiting companies from 37 countries taking part in the 2004 event. A total of 26,814 trade visitors from 81 countries were recorded, and trade deals amounting to USD3.52 billion were concluded during the show.
In addition to static and aerial displays, which are also open to the public, several conferences were held concurrently with the show, including the Asia Pacific Security Conference (APSEC), the C4I Asia Conference (C4i Asia), the Asian Aerospace UAV Asia-Pacific Conference and the IATA/Asian Aerospace Aviation Summit.
From 2008, the show will move from Singapore as Reed Exhibitions could not agree with the Government of Singapore over development plans for a new 24-hectare permanent exhibition site in Changi North. Reed is currently in negotiations on several possible locations for its 2008 event, while the new Singapore Airshow will be held in Singapore from that year. The 2006 show will thus be the 13th and last time to be held in Singapore since the show began in 1981. It was revealed on February 13, 2006 [3] that Reed has chosen AsiaWorld-Expo on the Hong Kong International Airport island, New Territories, Hong Kong. The relocated show in Hong Kong will be held concurrently with Aircraft Interiors EXPO ASIA.
