[edit] The Ambassador Hotel

In S.W.A.T.

In BOBBY:

The Article:

What article needs to be fixed, Asher? I'm not sure what problem you see here. -- Jim Douglas (talk) (contribs) 07:47, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

Asher, I was about to revert your edits to Bobby but an IP beat me to it. Please do not copy and paste text from other websites (such as IMDB trivia). Gzkn 07:54, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
The Ambassador Hotel article needs to be edited more. Asher Heimermann 08:12, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
You might want to bring up your concerns on the article at its talk page instead of here. Also, please acknowledge that you read what I wrote above, and that you will no longer copy and paste contents from other websites. Gzkn 08:16, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
Ok. I edited the hole article, The Ambassador Hotel. Tell me what you think. I tryed to make it EZ to read and undertsand. Asher Heimermann 08:45, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Stop your disruption

I see that you neglected my advice not to copy and paste directly from other websites, even though I made it explicitly clear to you not to do so. (Please do not copy and paste text from other websites (such as IMDB trivia). Also, please acknowledge that you read what I wrote above, and that you will no longer copy and paste contents from other websites.) I'm done playing nice with you. Your actions are detrimental to the Wikipedia community and causing headaches for other editors who need to keep an eye on your contributions. Too many of us have nicely tried to help you, and encouraged you to read and learn about Wikipedia guidelines before you edit, only to have you ignore them and not read any of the guidelines. Keep up your disruption, and you'll soon be looking at blocks. And you'll only have yourself to blame. Gzkn 11:52, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

Attn User:Gzkn - Don't bite. Unless I'm reading this user's page history wrong, he has been here a grand total of four days (as opposed to you, a "veteran," who has been here since way back on Oct. 19, 2006.) Cut some slack and realize that all newcomers make mistakes. One warning and then threats do not change behavior. Education does.
Asher, Wikipedia values contributions, but we can't use copywrited sources. If you phrase facts in your own words, and make sure they're backed up with facts, there will be few problems (unless someone wants to deliberately slant an article or ignore facts, then you need to make a case for your edits.) WELCOME and have fun editing! - Nhprman List 17:57, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
I responded at your talk page, Nhprman, so as not to clutter up Asher's. Gzkn 01:15, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WHBL

Please do not take redlinks out of articles (especially disambiguation pages) if an article can eventually be created out of them. The WHBL-AM redlink is utilized in several other pages, and though I do not plan to create the article personally (I feel that others should write the article as I have a bias against the station), others will soon. Thank you. Nate 23:24, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] My 'vandalism'

I was only trying to help you learn the ropes; your link in 'see also' was redundant, and unneeded. I will be seeking admin action against you for pulling out that template at me, that was unneeded and immature. Nate 03:07, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

I never did say you did vandalism on Wikipedia. Asher Heimermann 03:10, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
It still wasn't an appropriate template. I won't take action, but please use user talk warnings sparingly for only extreme things, not small little things like this. Thank you. Nate 03:12, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
Actually, you did, Asher. The {{test}} range of templates are for vandalism and other inappropriate edits. They must not be used for good faith content disagreements. -- Jim Douglas (talk) (contribs) 03:14, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Asher:
Several editors have informed you that your behavior is disruptive and asked you to stop welcoming and warning users until you develop a better understanding of Wikipedia. I'm now asking you once again. Please stop.David Levy 03:21, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User

Asher, please consider visiting Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User. I have a feeling becoming adopted may help you become more familiar with Wikipedia, and you'll avoid many of the pitfalls and errors you have been committing. Consider putting {{Adoptme}} on this talk page or user page. Someone from the Adopt-a-User program will then come along shortly and adopt you. Gzkn 03:29, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WHBL-AM article

Please note I've just retracted half the WHBL-AM article because you took the second half of the article from the station's website, which is very strongly discouraged, and a copyright infringment. Don't create an article just for the sake of having an article; an experienced editor(s) will get to it eventually and write it in an WP:NPOV form. Thank you. Nate 03:31, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Oh, Come on!!! Does Wikipedia always have wars like this? Asher Heimermann 03:33, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
I'm not sure what you mean by wars, Asher. But if you had read what I had posted above in bold about not copying and pasting from other websites, then Nate would not have had to cleanup WHBL-AM. Gzkn 03:36, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
I did not copy anything. Show me the page where I copyed from! Asher Heimermann 03:38, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
Asher, this concern is based on the fact that using long quotations from copyrighted material is not only wrong, but beyond a certain point is against the law. You don't need to understand all the rules of copyright law, but you do need to understand these basics. (1) If you copy a sentence or two from another source, you have to specifically name the source in a reference. (2) You can't copy a longer quotation from an outside source without their permission.
A lot of people are trying to help you learn rules here, I know some are more complicated than others, but you have to meet them halfway and read carefully the advice you received. I'm not part of the "adopt a user" program but if you have any questions about this I'll try to help.
By the way, as I think I mentioned the other day, you should seriously reconsider whether you want to be contributing on Wikipedia under your own real name (assuming that's what this is) rather than a made-up name. There are real privacy issues involved, especially for younger users, and you need to bear in mind that whatever is typed on Wikipedia can turn up in a Google search for a long time. Newyorkbrad 03:40, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
This isn't a war, this is basic Wikipedia policy, and that includes written content that is original to the site, not taken from others without attribution. Please follow site guidelines when you write articles. The passage cited sounded too promotional to be within a serious radio article. Nate 03:41, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
BTW, I am using my real name. Google "Asher Heimermann, Sheboygan Wisconsin". Well, I am off to welcome some new members now! Asher Heimermann 03:44, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
Uhh I think Newyorkbrad's point is that you DON'T want to use your real name. Metros232 03:45, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
Exactly. This is extremely important for your future, not just that you choose to reveal your real name, but that you are using it as your username. A few years from now when you apply to college, you don't want some curious admissions officer to type your name into Google, and the first thing that will pop up will be a conversation like this one. Newyorkbrad 04:03, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

I think the above, while trivial, exhibits why you continue to make mistakes on Wikipedia, Asher. Please read carefully the messages that other users write on your talk page. Don't just brush them off as you have been doing. You'll just keep on repeating your mistakes. Gzkn 03:48, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

I have to apologize; Jim Douglas' assesment of the edit was that it wasn't copyvio, and I will cede to his opinion. However, I still feel that the article could've done better with NPOV and non-promotional writing, and that it doesn't sound like you were just looking at the website and taking various items from it to put in the sentence. Nate 03:58, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Final warning

It's obvious that your familiarity with Wikipedia and its policies/procedures is poor. This is understandable, as you're inexperienced. What is not understandable is your insistence upon welcoming other new users (encouraging them to consult you for assistance) and posting warnings about rules that you don't understand.
I'm asking you one final time to cease these activities. If you don't, I will be forced to temporarily block you from editing. I don't want to do that (as I know that you mean well), but this disruption to Wikipedia cannot be allowed to continue. —David Levy 03:54, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Use of warning templates

While we are on the subject of templates, yesterday you did [1] - that is you issued a severe warning template (to a vandal)) which indicated had had been previously blocked - which as far as I know was not true. You also put the template at the top of the page - which does not maintain the chronological order. Issuing inapropriate templates does not help the whole procedure for getting vandals blocked, and confuses everyone. Please do not issue any more warning templates until you properly understand the whole vandal warning process. --ArmadilloFromHell 04:06, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

This user could be a sock puppet of User:Resources of Sheboygan Club based on the similiar edits and pattern of editing articles. It is strange that two users from the same small town (60,000 people) would be so similiar. Royalbroil T : C 05:35, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
There was also NumLee (talk contribs) - but not enough proof. --ArmadilloFromHell 05:38, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

There's no doubt that it's one of Asher's accounts: User_talk:Resources of Sheboygan Club#Asher Heimermann. And while sock puppets aren't illegal per se, they are strongly discouraged unless you have a really good reason. That account should probably be indef blocked. -- Jim Douglas (talk) (contribs) 05:41, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

They all should be blocked based on your (plural) comments. Royalbroil T : C 05:46, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
I strike my comment, as the user is new and young. Royalbroil T : C 20:16, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hi... so you want to be adopted...

... if you want. Just asking for permission... User:Orngjce223

Yes, please do! Asher Heimermann 02:35, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

Wait... that was NOT me... that was my sister (a know-it-all). Sorry! Orngjce223**Talk!

[edit] Hello Asher!

Hi Asher. I'm Rockpocket, and experienced Wikipedian and administrator here on English Wikipedia. I see that you have expressed an interest in being adopted by an experienced editor. For as long as you feel I can be of assistance to you, I will be here to help you get to grips with Wikipedia policy and, hopefully, help you grow into an experienced contributor yourself. If you have any questions whatsoever, please feel free to leave me a message on my talk page or simply ask below this message (I will be watching your talk page and will see it). Best wishes and happy editing. Rockpocket 06:00, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Administrator

Hi guys! Hopefully, I put the right tag on my userpage. I would like to become a Administrator for Wikipedia. Asher Heimermann 01:12, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

No, you didn't. The one you put up is for people who ARE administrators. I removed it from your page. I know there is a "this user isn't an administrator, but would like to be one day" userboxes floating around somewhere though. Metros232 01:15, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
I think {{Template:User_wikipedia/Dunno-Administrator}} is what you want. However, before you want to become an admin, you might have to read up on policies. Cheers, Yuser31415@?mop 06:18, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

Putting that tag on your page is very disruptive and a good way to get yourself blocked from Wikipedia, I think. Please put your ambitions on hold until you gain more experience and maturity. Hu 06:26, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Lets get you started...

Hello Asher. I'm glad to hear you have ambitions to be an administrator one day though, speaking as one, I can tell you it really isn't a big deal. What is much more important is that you contribute content to Wikipedia as best you can. I placed the correct template of your page for you. Also, don't worry about getting blocked for what was a genuine mistake. Had Hu assumed good faith, as we are all required to do here, he or she would have appreciated you did not mean to misrepresent yourself or be disruptive. Nevertheless, in future you should always try to check what the templates you chose to use are for. If in doubt, just ask. That is the whole point of having a mentor.
Anyway, thanks for introducing yourself on my talkpage. Lets see if we can't sort out some of the issues some people have raised on your page previously.
  • Firstly, are you absolutely sure you wish to use your real name here on Wikipedia? Many people choose a pseudonym to keep their identity private. As there are some dangers associated with people knowing who you are on the internet. It is your choice, of course, but if you would like to move you account to a new name, I can help you do that.
  • Secondly, there appears some concern that you are using different accounts to edit Wikipedia. It does seem likely to me that User:Resources of Sheboygan Club especially might belong to you also. Please be aware that you have done nothing wrong if that is your account also, but you should read WP:SOCK and consider simply using one account in future. If you are using multiple accounts and break any rules doing so, you do risk being blocked. So have a think about it and let me know, I can help you delete any other accounts that you might wish to retire.

Ok, thats probably enough from me for now. Let me know what you think about these issues or if there is anything you need help with. Rockpocket 08:04, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

Rockpocket, thank you for adopting Heimermann. Most of us have assumed good faith, and we continue to do so by talking to Heimermann here. If we had given up assuming good faith, we would have simply placed notices on AIV and heavy vandal notices here. Placing a tag like the admin tag is disruptive (which is why it was reverted), but I made no statement about the user's intentions. The advice to the user to curb ambition is good advice which you have subtly endorsed and comes after similar advice that has been ignored, so I deemed it useful to continue in that vein. We early on detected that the user was behaving like a precocious junior high student (as it turned out) and cut him slack because we took that into account and assumed good faith. Otherwise the response would have been much harsher. Hu 08:43, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

Just letting you know that the above user keeps blanking this talk page for some reason... Gzkn 00:34, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
