Ashokan Railroad Station

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ashokan Station, MP 16.2, used to be Brown's Station. But, after the flooding of the Ashokan Reservoir, it was moved about six miles to the town of Ashokan, where it generated average business. It was purchased by the town of Woodstock, and moved to Tinker Street, where a portico and a tower have been added, and is now a shop.

The former Ashokan station site will be the future terminus for the Catskill Mountain Railroad. The eastern half of a run-around track is to be installed by the Catskill Mountain Railroad in 2007.

The former Ashokan tool house has been moved across the tracks near the former station site, and will be eventually restored as a new Ashokan station.
