Ashleigh is a character from CrossGen Entertainment's Sigilverse. She appeared in the Scion comic series as a major character because she is Ethan's love, and Ethan is the Sigil-Bearer on her world. Ashleigh is also a significant figure because she is the daughter of the king of the Raven kingdom and Ethan is the son of the rival Heron king.
[edit] Character Details
Ashleigh is a beautiful, red-haired young woman. She dresses in leather armor and is a very well trained warrior. Her main interest is in improved rights for the created races. In modern terms she is a civil rights campaigner but in her world she risks death and torture on behalf of non-human intelligent humanoids.
Ashleigh is hated by her older brother Bron and loved by her father, the king of the Raven kingdom. Ashleigh's strong support for the so-called lesser races is viewed by her father as a harmless youthful indulgence, but to Ashleigh, it is deadly serious and something she will not abandon for any person or any reason.
Ashleigh meets Prince Ethan in the castle and frees him from the dungeon. She hopes he will join her and help her cause because of his strong and affectionate bond with a seeming member of the lesser races named Skink. However, Ethan feels his duty lies on another path and so they part.
Ashleigh returns to the Raven castle and meets with her father who tells her that he would like to break tradition and place her on the throne instead of her older brother Bron who he feels is unsuitable for the duties of kingship. Bron learns of this conversation (thanks to the powers of Mai Shen who is a member of The First and not a human). Later that night Ashleigh returns to talk to her father only to find him dead, murdered by Bron in a fit of rage. Bron cynically blames Ashleigh for his father's murder and puts her into the dungeon, as Bron intends to publically execute her.
Later, Prince Ethan returns to the Raven castle and repays Ashleigh by freeing her from the same dungeon cell he was placed in. Ethan then heads up to challenge Bron to a duel to the death. At first Ashleigh goes in a different direction but then changes her mind and follows him only to see Bron "kill" Ethan using some of the powers Mai Shen has recently given him. However, Ethan doesn't stay dead, the power of his Sigil (or perhaps the power of Skink) heals his terrible wound and as a result of the shock of Ethan's recovery from death (as well as Skink blasting Mai Shen), they escape from the castle and flee together.
Eventually Ashleigh and Ethan admit their love for each other and become intimate.
