Ashgate

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ashgate is an area in North-East Derbyshire, west of Chesterfield. The attractive location is in proximity to the town centre and local amenities.

The pinnacle place of the area is the Inkerman playing fields, formerly a Victorian swimming baths and a former area of pottery, most notably "Bramptonware." Other places of interest include the Woodside public house, which enjoys a prime location at the top of Ashgate hill. There is a wood that runs on from this roundabout, leading to the small but quaint vision of Old Brampton, and prior to that, Ashgate Hospice, which has recently added a new daycare suite to add to its growing expertise in palliative care. The Ashgate area is surrounded by the other districts of Brockwell, Loundsley Green, Brampton, Old Brampton and the town centre itself.
