Ashford Designer Outlet
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The McArthur Glen Ashford Designer Outlet was designed by architect Lord Richard Rogers, and opened in March 2000. It is located near Ashford town centre, adjacent to the Ashford International Eurostar station and a few minutes’ drive from Junction 10 of the M20 motorway.
The oval, tented design of the centre, while atractive from a distance can start to have a soul destroying effect on anyone who spends too much time within it, pacing round and round like sinners in the circle of hell reserved for urban planners. This effect is enhanced by the loudspeakers spread around the carparks which play constant muzak, generally soft jazz versions of current pop hits, to make your shopping experience more pleasureable.
At the site there are over 80 stores covering brands such as:
- Tommy Hilfiger,
- Polo Jeans Co,
- Ted Baker,
- Gap Outlet,
- Puma,
- Revlon,
- Nike Factory Store,
- Austin Reed,
- Clarks Shoes and
- Marks & Spencer
