The Ascari Ecosse was the first car made by Ascari, launched in 1998.

ConceptCarz.com: [1] In 1995 Ascari introduced the Ecosse at various Motor Shows. The vehicle was still a work in progress but it did indicate the progress of the Lee Noble designed supercar. Noble distinguished career included masterpieces such as the McLaren F1 and the Lotus Elise. The concept was dubbed the FGT. The name Ecosse means Scotland; the owner had made his money creating tools for the gas and oil industry. It featured a Chevrolet six litre fuel injected eight-cylinder engine placed midship behind the driver. The production version was given a BMW eight-cylinder powerplant and further tuned by Hartge. The 4.4 liter example produced around 300 horsepower while the larger 4.7 liter unit produced around 400 horsepower.

The spaceframe chassis and wishbone suspension carried the lightweight fibre glass body. With an overall weight of just 1250 kg, the Ecosse 4.7 was able to race from zero-to-sixty in around four seconds while top speed was achieved at 200 mph. Development from concept to production took about four years to complete. Each Ecosse requires 450 hours of labor. This means that the small Ascari company was able to produce around 25 through 30 examples each year.
