Arukenimon, called Archnemon in the Japanese version, is one of the main villains in the Digimon Adventure 02 series. She is a Digimon in the form of a spider-woman with antlers sticking out from under her light blue hair and a mask worn on her eyes. Queen of the Dokugumon, her quick tempered personality made her feared by most Digimon.
Arukenimon was based on Arachne, the woman from Greek mythology who was turned into a spider by Athena as punishment for boasting of being a better weaver.

[edit] Abilities
Her special ability is to transform into the form of a beautiful woman so she can draw close to her victims. She often says she prefers her true form to the disguise. Her favorite phrase about this is, "I feel pretty again!" In her human-form, she can use her hair-strands in her 'Spirit Needle' spell on Control Spires to create artificial digimon that (usually) obey her command.
[edit] Attacks
- Spirit Needle (Human form only): Takes a strand of her hair and uses it to turn control spires into unliving Digimon.
- Acid Mist: Sprays green acid from her mouth.
- Spider Thread: Fires a preeminently sharp wire that can entrap or slice an enemy.
Arukenimon also has the following attack in the cards:
- Predation Spider: Summons a Dokugumon from the spider-like portion of her body.
[edit] Appearances
[edit] Digimon Adventure 02
Arukenimon was a rather major villain for the latter half of the series. She usually appeared in the form of a beautiful young woman with odd red and purple clothing and large shades concealing her eyes. When in battle, she shifted to her Digimon form. It is unknown whether her ability to shift between Digimon form and human form is a side effect due to the fact that she is half Digimon, half human, or because of her kind's natural abilities.
Arukenimon took over where Ken stopped after the destruction of Kimeramon. When first encountered, she appeared in her human form, but soon revealed her Digimon form. When fighting the Chosen Children, she used her Spirit Needle to turn Dark Towers into Digimon like Thundermon, presumably Snimon (who was destroyed by Stingmon), Golemon, Minotarumon, Okuwamon, Blossomon, a herd of Mammothmon, and Knightmon. In one event in the Giga House, she used a flute to control Insectoid Digimon including a bunch of Flymon, Snimon, Roachmon, Kunemon, a Dokugumon, and even Digmon and Stingmon until the flute's powers were negated.
After the failure at the Giga House, she worked with her partner, Mummymon. The relationship was not particularly romantic, as Arukenimon was arrogant and rejected any advances by Mummymon. The strongest Digimon she managed to create with Dark Towers, BlackWarGreymon, wouldn't obey her due to the complexities of his creation. Following Mummymon's suggestion, Arukenimon decided to try and destroy the Holy Stones, though Mummymon and her artificial Knightmon's attacks on the first Stone caused BlackWarGreymon to attack the Stone and destroy it himself. Satisfied, Arukenimon set back and watched as BlackWarGreymon destroyed the rest of the stones, occasionally attacking the Chosen Children to keep them from disturbing BlackWarGreymon. The plan ultimately failed, however, as the Chosen Children released Azulongmon from his prison during the fight to protect the last Holy Stone, and he restored all the stones with seeds of light.
Following this, Arukenimon and Mummymon turned to Yukio Oikawa, their master, and he instructed Arukenimon to open the Digital Gates in the entire world. During Christmas day, the Japanese Chosen Children traveled around the world and helped close the gates, Arukenimon and Mummymon drove around Tokyo in a truck and kidnapped twenty children. The following day, they kidnapped Ken as well, so that Oikawa could scan his Dark Seed and pass it on to the children. After this, Oikawa, Arukenimon and Mummymon ran off to hide in a vacation house in the mountains, but BlackWarGreymon came from the Digital World to destroy them. As BlackWarGreymon asked Arukenimon and Mummymon where they came from, Oikawa revealed that he created Arukenimon and Mummymon from a combination of his own DNA and data, making them both half Digimon, half human. While the revelation clearly shocked and troubled Arukenimon and Mummymon, Arukenimon preferred not to discuss it and focus her efforts on tracking the seeded children and protecting Oikawa as they hid back in his run-down apartment in Tokyo.
In the end, Arukenimon was killed by MaloMyotismon, who grabbed her by the neck, repeatedly stabbed her with his sharp tail like a scorpion and finally let one of the heads on his shoulders devour her head, causing the rest of her body to disintegrate. Apparently she was horrified of her master after he had grabbed her and her wish was to be "as far from him as possible" which he used as an excuse to test his newfound power on her.
- Voiced by Yamazaki Wakana in the original version, and by Mari Devon in the American dub version.
