Wikipedia talk:Articles for deletion/Corner Penthouse

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Chewbacca1010: This is a comic my former roomate and I draw and write, I will add to this as we progress. It has a small following in my building.

I do not see the need to delete this article, as, when time permits it, I intend to actually submit several of the comics as an example. Since my partner does not have access to the Internet, he will not be able to voice his opinion for several weeks, when he moves.

The article does not have any vanity problems as the character descriptions are based on the comics and not our real-life counterparts. While the characters are loosely based on ourselves, they are not direct reflections of ourselves, they are merely characters. --Chewbacca1010 May 10, 2006.

  • "Vanity" is perhaps a poor choice in terminology on our part. It doesn't really have the same pejorative sense you normally associate with it. Boiled down it just means we strongly prefer that authors not create articles about their own creations. In any case, Wikipedia really isn't the place for publishing information about material that is not yet widely known. If you're planning on putting the comic online, though, there definitely is a site for you. It's called Comixpedia, and it is an encyclopedia dedicated specifically to online comics. It's not maintained by the same organization Wikipedia is, but it uses the same software and licenses we do. –Abe Dashiell (t/c) 21:52, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

Corner Penthouse, although not quite as famous (or asinine) of a comic as Family Circus, is commonly known in our area & has a small cult following. The verifiability of the comic should be apparent as more gets added to the article. Also, even though it was written by one of the comic's creators, it is clearly more than a vanity article since someone like me has previously edited it & is posting in this discussion. So please don't delete this wikipedia article! ~Hezzard, May 10th 2006.

  • In light of your arguments, I am cancelling the deletion proposal and escalating it to the full article deletion process. This will bring in input from the wider Wikipedia community. Any additional comments should be placed here rather than on this talk page. –Abe Dashiell (t/c) 03:07, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
