- Seems
intendedto disrupt Wikipedia, albeit in quite a fun way. If it is decided to keep it, it should be in the Wikipedia name space. Warofdreams 18:13, 16 Jul 2004 (UTC)- Move to Wikipedia:Wiki Link Contest. Jay 18:22, 16 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- It is not meant to disrupt wikipedia, and has been discussed on the Village Pump earlier today. I am sure the creator of the page just made a mistake and intended for it to be in the Wikipedia: NS. Move and redirect. David Remahl 18:23, 16 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- OK then, just seems likely to disrupt things, not intended to. Warofdreams 18:31, 16 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- It will encourage trolls to add bogus links that nobody will notice to articles in order to form the longest "chains." Now, if the rules were changed so you could not be in the edit history of any articles you were chaining, then I might be okay with moving it to the Wikipedia namespace. For now, delete. --Ardonik 19:04, Jul 16, 2004 (UTC)
- Delete. This isn't a games website. RickK 19:13, Jul 16, 2004 (UTC)
- Delete. I'd prefer not to encourage people to mess with things just for the sake of messing with them. Joyous 19:41, Jul 16, 2004 (UTC)
- Delete. I don't want to be a killjoy, but there's a considerable risk IMO that this will disrupt Wikipedia. It's both an unnecessary risk and a bad precedent to keep it. Andrewa 19:49, 16 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- No way should this asinine suggestion be allowed to stay. Speedy delete. - Lucky 6.9 20:05, 16 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- Don't worry about being a killjoy Andrewa, this idea just seems lame. Go play the oracle of bacon if you need to waste time. Delete. - DropDeadGorgias (talk) 20:20, Jul 16, 2004 (UTC)
- It was in no way intended to disrupt Wikipedia, just to encourage users to browse through more subjects, instead only the subjects they are primarily interested in. I did not know the good place to put my idea, so i put it in the Village Pump. There the Six_Degrees_of_Wikipedia article was mentioned to me, so i decided to make an article about it to write down the entire idea. If there is a place on Wikipedia where this contest can be placed, in case people like the idea, than please move it there. Since Wikipedia is fairly self-regulating, i thought a contest like this would not disturb the working of Wikipedia, since malicious users would never be able to mess up and still be allowed in the contest. If this indeed disturbs Wikipedia as is said here, then please remove it. I had no intention whatsoever to do that. I have editted the rules slightly, that you cannot compete if you appear in the edit history for the period that the contest is held. I don't know how to move or redirect the page to the Wikipedia namespace, i assume that that namespace is for Wiki relevant data, but not articles, right? K-Mile 11:12, 17 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- Comment: Please sign your posts, User:K-Mile. While I appreciate your latest attempts to make the game non-disruptive, I think there are still flaws in it and can't see how to remove them. No change of vote. Andrewa 00:59, 17 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- Wikipedia is not a place for games. Move to Meta if anything. Do not move to the Wikipedia namespace as that is supposed to be for help pages and policies. Delete any resulting redirects. Angela. 03:21, 17 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- I truly appreciate the idea and thought that went into this, but agree that it does not belong either in wikipedia proper, or the wikipedia namespace, so delete. —siroχo 06:31, Jul 17, 2004 (UTC)
- This seems like a great educational and promotional tool for wikipedia. I don't understand the opposition to it with the changed rules. I wish one of the above objectors would list the "unfixable flaws" so that they can be fixed. I vote to keep unless a real reason to delete is given. --ssd 08:02, 17 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- I have removed the contents of the page until agreed upon a proper form. Can we please continue this discussion on the discussion page of the article? Thanks. K-Mile 11:17, 17 Jul 2004 (UTC)
