[edit] Robert L.J. Zenik
An unencyclopedic article on a nn Canadian poet whose name and books are unrecognized by Amazon.ca and Chapters.Indigo.ca (the country's two largest booksellers). The two anthologies Zenik has edited are also unrecognized. The "Wordfires Literary Art" television series, which the subject is said to have produced and directed, receives a total of eight unique ghits - all sourced through Wikipedia. "City of Sudbury Poet" receives seven unique hits - also all sourced through Wikipedia. Possibly a vanity article - the original editor has contributed exclusively to this article, Leona Czwartkowski (Zenik's wife), and lists, such as List of Canadian poets, to which the user has added Zenik and Czwartkowski. - Delete astonishing it's been around this long. The images also have questionable copyright status, since the editor has no history other than to upload those articles as released with no evidence of identity or authority to release. Guy 16:16, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
- Very Weak Keep. Reference to mass market book retailers is not always the best criteria. Work by this author is available in the Toronto Public Library. The University of Manitoba "CanLit" project has seen fit to include this person. Agent 86 17:43, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
- Comment While I'd never rely on book retailers alone, they do provide one indication of an author's notability. I, too, noted a Zenik book in the holdings of the Toronto Public Library. To these eyes, the fact that the largest public library system in the country (in Zanik's home province, no less) holds nothing more than a single copy of a single title speaks to non-notability. The title, Beyond Me, described by a vendor on abebooks as "stapled wraps", appears to be a chapbook. I'm afraid I can't speak to the status of the publisher, the Highway Bookshop in Cobalt, Ontario, as they appear to have no website. Zenik's presence on the University of Manitoba's CanLit site consists of nothing more than his name and a link to zenik.com, a domain name currently up for sale.
