[edit] Portal linux
A nice, neutral article, but with no notability. The group doesn't even expect to release a beta this year. Delete until at the very least the product is available. —HorsePunchKid→龜 2005-12-06 04:42:23Z
- Delete but with reservations. It does look like its at least talked about [1], unless you just get 336,000 google hits for nothing somehow. But most hits seem to be about a linux portal (for some reason google isn't putting the words in the right order). So I am going to play it safe and go with the crystal ball thing. By the way, how come its 336,000 hits but only 340 uniques? The mind boggles Zordrac (talk) Wishy Washy Darwikinian Eventualist 10:35, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
- The problem's not that Google's getting the words in the wrong order, but rather that it ignores punctuation, so the first hit is for a page containing the text "Linux portal - Linux at IBM, then a little further down we find "NETC Portal - Linux for Beginners", and so on.
As for the hit count discrepancy: the "about 336,000 hits" is an estimate based on a quick scan of Google's index. According to some blogs I was reading a while back (so not the most reliable source), this is usually wildly inaccurate. The reason there's only 340 "unique" hits is that a lot of the reported hits will be for pages containing identical content, or similar pages on the same website. Google tries not to show you too many of those. — Haeleth Talk 14:45, 6 December 2005 (UTC)

- Delete, for Wikipedia is not a crystal ball -- and IMHO, Linux distributions are generally highly non-notable. Anyone with a bit of spare time can put one together these days. :) --FreelanceWizard 10:59, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
- Delete per Zordrac: textbook crystal ball. They can always come back when they've got some users and recreate the article. — Haeleth Talk 14:45, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
