[edit] Levannah Harris
Nom, and vote
Del as non-notable. A Google search on
- "Levannah Harris" -wikipedia
produces 3 English hits, one w/ "wiki" in its URL, and the other two for "Levannah Harris" as internal lks to copies of a bio of her that credits WP: i.e., wikipedia is the only source of info under that name. Image:Mama.jpg is contributed by User:Stuart Harris-Logan; neither he nor the IP who contributed 30 minutes earlier have any interest at WP other than her. The other IP contributor, at Glasgow U, appears to be a shared IP; the remaining contributors (those registered and possessing User pages) have been mere copy edits or formatting, except for one: that addition of an image of her work, by an editor with a couple hundred edits over 14 months, is the only hint of anything more than a family-vanity bio.

- Delete a little reluctantly, unless any verification can be provided for some notability. Tyrenius 04:23, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
- Delete per nom, unless some sourcing arrives, which over a year after creation isn't likely forthcoming. RGTraynor 05:03, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

- Delete: I just went source-hunting on a number of search engines and found nothing to back this article up. Likely a hoax. Kukini 13:01, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

- Delete - either a hoax, or a non-notable biography. --Sunfazer | Talk 10:25, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
- Save- The reason she can't be found online is that she's not worked publicly in so long. She has a paragraph in Keith Hartley's book of influential Scottish artists. She's in other books too. I'll try to find her but perhaps not in time. We shall see. Wikipedia is always on the lookout for unique online content, right? user:angry_candy
- Wrong. Unique content is almost always n-n; we're quite happy to wait for it to become more verifiably part of the stock of human knowledge. WP editing is for harmless drudges, not discoverers of those deserving one
page'graph in a book.

- That seems a little hostile. There are many articles on Wikipedia more worthy of deletion than this one.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 130.209.6.40 (talk • contribs) 17:27, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
- A skilled wordsmith told that the problem with asking a question is that you may get a direct answer, so i tend to jump on the opportunities to demonstrate that. But no hostility was intended: just clarity. Whether there are others doesn't matter; if you've kept a list, you may want to nominate them, but this question is about how the article named stacks up against the standard, not against our success in implementing the standard.--Jerzy•t 17:59, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

- Save Levannah Harris was an important figure in the Scottish art scene from the late forties / early fifties until the early seventies. Her influence seems to have come from the works of Dali and Picasso, but she's influenced in turn a great number of young Scottish artists - particularly in Edinburgh. References for her work can be found in the more comprehensive Scottish art history books. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 130.209.6.40 (talk • contribs) 11:30, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
- Who she was influenced by is of no significance for AfD. Whom did she influence, expecially far from Edinburgh, and how many of them are notable?
--Jerzy•t 15:09, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
- There can be no doubt that Harris is a national, rather than international, artist. Her work is seldom - if at all - commented on outside of Scottish artistic circles - she is certainly no Matisse. However if Wiki would like to be comprehensive on the subject a small entry on her work would be appropriate. To answer your question of influence, her work appears to have informed a number of younger Scottish artists, including Georgie Young (www.georgieyoung.com), Nancy E. Bushnell (www.eye-of-art.com) and Eona Murray Aitken (I don't think she has a website but she's a member of the Society of Scottish Artists). Her work was widely regarded as important and influential in her day; I believe she is now retired. If wikipedia decided to delete it then it would be a shame as the Thames and Hudon Encyclopedia of British Art has an entry for her.
