[edit] Fresnel mirror
Fresnel mirror, or ridged mirror is a solid-state atomic mirror which can reflect neutral atoms and can be used for atomic optics. The main mechanism which limits the quantum reflection of atoms from a solid sirface, is the van der Waals interaction. It attracts the neutral particles to the surface. The van der Waals interaction becomes repulsive at short distances, but at short distance, the atom feels the structure of the mirror (which is supposed to consist of atoms) which leads to the diffuse scattering. The specular reflection (or quantum reflection) is possible, while the normal component of the wavevector of the atomic wave is small. Therefore the atomic mirrors usially work at small values of the grazing angle. The stronger is the van der Waals interacrion, the weaker is the reflection. The ridges allow to reduce the effective density of the mirror and extend the working range of the grazing angles. In the case of narrow ridges, the ridged mirror can be interpreted in terms of the Fresnel diffraction.

[edit] Aaron Klein
Aaron Klein, born in Philadelphia on August 29, 1979, is Jerusalem bureau chief of the popular conservative news website WorldNetDaily.com, is a cohost of ABC Radio's nationally syndicated the John Batchelor Show, and appears on several of the top fifteen radio shows in America.
Listeners of American conservative radio know him best for his high-strung, breathless Mideast news briefs and right-wing political analysis. Klein is also a columnist for The Jewish Press, which bills itself as the largest weekly Jewish newspaper and has a conservative bent. Klein's WorldNetDaily.com articles are also published on multiple conservative news websites and in various U.S. and Israeli newspapers.
Klein, an Orthodox Jew who previously served as editor-in-chief of the student newspaper at Yeshiva University, is known for his strange radio chats and WorldNetDaily.com interviews with leaders of some of the most notorious terrorist organizations in the world. He is regularly featured on the radio interviewing militants from Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, and Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, among others.
Klein's other previous interview subjects have included PLO Leader Yasser Arafat, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Hamas chief Mahmoud al-Zahar, Albanian Prime Minister Fatos Nano, former Lebanese Prime Minister Michel Aoun, Lebanese Druze leader Walid Jumblatt, imprisoned spy Jonathan Pollard, leaders of the Taliban, Palestinian negotiation minister Saeb Erekat, former Israeli foreign minister Shlomo Ben Ami, worldwide Al-Muhajiroun leader Omar Bakri Muhammad, West Bank Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade leader Ala Senakreh, 2002 siege of the Church of the Nativity leader Jihad Jaara.
At age 19, Klein made headlines when he traveled overseas to spend time with and interview members of the London-based Al-Muhajiroun, a group reportedly connected to al-Qaida. The group's controversial leader, Omar Bakri Muhammed, fled the UK in 2005 and is still missing. Klein's article about the interview experience, "My Weekend with the Enemy," was published in major-city newspapers in four countries.
Klein made news in November 2005 when he and nationally-syndicated radio host Rusty Humphries interviewed the gun-toting senior leadership of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, and again the next month when Klein was barred from broadcasting with ABC Radio in Syria because, according to several Syrian officials, of Klein's Jewish faith.

[edit] Margaret of Castello
Margaret of Castello is a patron saint of the poor, crippled, and unwanted.
She was born blind, lame, deformed, hunchbacked and a midget, into a family of nobles. As a child, her parents imprisoned her for 14 years so no one would see her. She could attend Mass and receive the Sacraments. Her parents took her to a shrine to pray for a cure for her birth defects. When no miracle happened, they abandoned her. She lived in prayer and charity, helping the poor. When she died, crowds at her funeral demanded she be buried inside the church. A crippled girl was miraculously cured at the funeral, so the priest allowed Margaret's burial inside.
In 1558, her remains were transferred because her coffin was rotten. Her clothes were also rotten, but her body was preserved. Her canonization is pending.

[edit] Gerhard Wisnewski Stellung
GERHARD WISNEWSKI of Munich, Germany, author and producer of books and television broadcasts on the events of September 11, 2001.
From the book "The 9/11 myth" Introduction to Gerhard Wisnewski's texts The following chapter (translated from German) is extracted from Gerhard Wisneswki’s book “Myth 9/11 – Searching for the Truth”(in Original [German]: Mythos 9/11 – Der Wahrheit auf der Spur). In the introduction to his book, the author insists that 9/11 was a historical event, the significance of which is not sufficiently acknowledged. The study of this event is not an academic exercise for him but an attempt to reveal underlying political structures. The event 9/11 is regarded by Wisnewski as the opening move of a mostly covert Third World War. Wars can only take place, when politicians’ and journalists’ statements are blindly believed. He writes: “Wars can only be pursued, when, upon hearing the first explosion, people run like sheep in the desired direction.”

[edit] Space Eating Habits
When John Glenn became the first American to orbit the earth in 1962 he had many tasks to perform, one of which was experimentation with eating food in weightless conditions. While John found this task easy some experts were concerned that because of the weightless conditions found in space food would be difficult to swallow and therefore collect in the throat.
Astronauts who followed John Glenn in other Mercury missions had trouble coping with the food forced upon them. This food consisted of bite-sized cubes, freeze-dried powders and semiliquids crammed into tubes. Not only did the astronauts find this food unappetizing but they had trouble rehydrating the freeze-dried food, disliked squeezing tubes and they also had to collect any crumbs.
Food was changed for the Gemini missions. The tubes were one first thing to go because the container weighed more than the food inside. Improvements were made to the bite-sized cubes; they were covered in gelatin to help stop the crumbling. A method to help make rehydrating foods easier was also invented. These however were not the only changes made; there were also significant changes made to the menu. A typical meal for these astronauts now included shrimp cocktail, chicken and vegetables, toast squares, butterscotch pudding, and apple juice.
Food variety was greatly increased for the Apollo missions and astronauts now had access to hot water which could be used to make rehydrating much easier and even improved the way the food tasted. The “spoon-bowl” also was introduced and used in the Apollo missions. This was used to allow the astronauts to eat more normally as they did on earth. This was achieved by the food being kept in a special plastic container which was then opened with a plastic zip. The moisture in the food helped it stick to a spoon.
The Skylab spacecraft offered a large amount of space which could be used to store many more types of food and had enough space for a fridge and freezer to be present. There was also enough space for a dining room. The chairs used were seated and stuck around a table (which was also stuck to the floor). The astronauts were prevented from floating around the room by foot and thigh restraints. Their meals were kept in food trays which also warmed to food. Therefore eating on the Skylab was relatively normal. They used knifes, forks and spoons as well as scissors; which were used for opening the food. These were held down magnetically to the food tray.
Today fruit and vegetables are eaten in space however they are limited as only those who can survive at room temperature can be considered as choices for a space flight. Astronauts also have a greater choice when it comes to food. They create there own menu from an approved list of foods such as fruit salad and spaghetti.

[edit] Henry Derozio
Henry Derozio was born in Calcutta (Lower Circular Road) on April the 18th 1809. He is a strangely Byronic figure who lived during the most difficult period for Anglo-Indians yet managed to rapidly rise to fame amongst Calcutta’s multiracial literati. He was the son of a wealthy ‘native protestant’. His English mother died when he was a small child. Henry was subsequently educated at the city’s elite ‘David Drummond’s Academy’. After his father’s death he was dispatched to an Indigo farm in Bihar from whence he started producing poetic verse under the pseudonym ‘Juvenis’ (youth). He posted his poetic outpourings off to a Calcutta newspaper editor who astutely recognized his genius. Derozio’s fame spread rapidly and upon returning to the city of his birth he quickly found gainful employment as a prolific freelance writer, contributing to all of Calcutta’s flourishing newspapers. Many Anglo-Indians did their best to shrug off their Indian roots, whereas Derozio revelled in them, and his patriotic poetry is still taught to school children in India today. His free spirit also got him into trouble at Calcutta's Hindu College, where he was forced to resign as a teacher. In the winter of 1831 a terrible cholera epidemic raged throughout Calcutta. Soon after writing an impassioned plea for Eurasians to take from their own suffering the lesson that they should not make others suffer likewise, Derozio fell sick and within nine days he was dead. He was 23 years old. A gentleman who collected contributions for a fitting stone memorial actually ran off with the proceeds, so Derozio did not even get a tombstone. Within the Derozio family circle his early death was nothing out of the ordinary. Of the poet’s two sisters, Sophia had died in 1827, aged 17, and Amelia died in 1835, aged 22. He also had two brothers; one died at the age of 19. Another called Claud had been educated in Scotland. He returned five years after the death of his eminent brother, and died soon afterwards, aged 22. Throughout the 19th Century Henry Louis Derozio remained in an unmarked grave. Some 75 years after his funeral an anonymous benefactor purchased the poet a headstone. Some of Derozio’s poems seem to have eerily predicted his own premature death. For example ‘MISERY UPON MISERY:- I SOON SHALL BE’, ‘THE POET’S GRAVE’, ‘THE TOMB’ and others. After independence, the government of West Bengal errected a monument to Henry Derozio on Calcutta's Park Street.

[edit] Johann (Hans) Rottenhammer
The son of the master of the Imperial stables, Johann (or Hans) Rottenhammer received his artistic training in the 1580’s from the court painter in Munich, Hans Donauer. In 1588 he undertook a trip to Italy, where he was to remain until 1606. After a period in Treviso, where he worked in the studio of Lodewijk Toeput, known as Pozzoserrato, Rottenhammer settled in Venice for about four years. This was followed by a brief period spent in Rome, where he lived until 1595, but by the following year he was back in Venice. He spent the next ten years in Venice, marrying a Venetian woman and establishing a successful career as a painter of small-scale mythological and religious scenes, usually on copper. He also collaborated on paintings with the landscape artist Paul Bril, painting figures on small copper panels which would then be sent to Bril in Rome, who would then add landscape elements to complete the compositions. (Rottenhammer also collaborated in this way with Jan Brueghel the Elder, when both artists were working in Rome, and later with the young Adam Elsheimer in Venice.) Like Bril and Brueghel, Rottenhammer was one of a group of Northern painters who enjoyed the patronage of Cardinal Federico Borromeo in Rome in the first half of the 1590’s, and he continued to maintain close contact with the Cardinal after moving to Venice. Accepted into the Venetian painter’s guild in 1603, Rottenhammer travelled widely throughout Northern Italy, and received commissions from, among others, Ferdinando Gonzaga, Duke of Mantua, and the Emperor Rudolf II in Prague, for whom he painted a Feast of the Gods and also acted as a buying agent. Many of his painted compositions were also reproduced as engravings by printmakers such as Lucas Kilian and Raphael Sadeler the Elder.
In 1606 Rottenhammer returned to Germany, settling in Augsburg and painting several altarpieces for churches there and in Munich. In 1609 he was commissioned by Count Ernst von Scharmburg to paint the Goldener Saal of the Schloss Bückeburg, near Hannover. He was also active as a fresco painter, decorating the facade of the Hopfer house in Augsburg in 1611. Other commissions included paintings for the ducal palace in Munich, completed in 1616, and the town hall of Augsburg. Rottenhammer also continued to paint cabinet pictures of mythological subjects, often on copper, works which remained popular with collectors well into the 18th century. The extent of his reputation throughout the Holy Roman Empire meant that many artists came to study with him, and his position as the leading painter in Augsburg remained secure until his death in 1625.

Lyrics of Loch Lomond song. By yon bonnie banks and by yon bonnie braes, Where the sun shines bright on Loch Lomond Where me and my true love were ever wont to gae, On the bonnie, bonnie banks o’ Loch Lomond. Chorus
O ye’ll tak’ the high road and I’ll tak’ the low road, And I’ll be in Scotland afore ye. But me and my true love will never meet again, On the bonnie, bonnie banks o’ Loch Lomond.
‘Twas there that we parted in yon shady glen, On the steep, steep side o’ Ben Lomond. Where in deep purple hue, the hieland hills we view, And the moon comin’ out in the gloamin’.
The wee birdies sing and the wild flowers spring, And in sunshine the waters are sleeping: But the broken heart, it kens nae second spring again, Tho’ the waefu’ may cease from their greeting.
