I felt this page required some major expansion. I was debating about adding information about specific arthrodeses, but felt that describing procedures to that level of detail was probably beyond the scope of the encyclopaedia. I realise that there are other (congenital, metabolic, neuropathic, etc) causes of intractible joint pain for which arthrodesis may be indicated, and I may at some point come back and compile a list.
