Arts Council of Ireland

The Arts Council of Ireland (Chomhairle Ealaíon na hÉireann in Irish) is a government funded body which promotes art in the Republic of Ireland. It was founded in 1951, and, as of 2005, is headed by Olive Braiden. It provides grants to artists, as well as funding arts-related events directly. It also funds the artists' organization Aosdána.
