- Artex is the name of a world-renowned fine art shipping company based in Landover, MD.
Artex is a surface coating used for interior decorating, most often found on ceilings, which allows the decorator to add a texture to it. The name Artex is a trademark of Artex Ltd., a company based in the UK.
Care should be exhibited when working with old Artex surfaces as the original formulation of Artex contained white (Chrysotile) asbestos. This practice ended some time around 1980, although reports vary.
Artex Limited have now introduced a purpose made product that can be applied to Smooth over Artex, the product comes as a DIY ready mix for small jobs or a powdered format to be used by tradesmen.
