Artemis Fowl is a to-be-released film based on the bestselling series of the same name. Laurence Gutterman is no longer the director.[citation needed] Stuart Beattie is writing the script for the movie, which was finished in late 2005.[citation needed] It was to be filmed during the end of 2006/2007 and the film as to be released in 2007.[citation needed] The movie is now officially scrapped.[citation needed]Template:Original Cast list:
- Jason Statham will play Domovoi Butler.
- Steve Buscemi has been cast as Foaly the Centaur.
- Stuart Beattie is the scriptwriter for the movie, as hired by "The Weinstein Production Company."
- Eoin Colfer, the series' author, wants to have cameo role as a Goblin. He claims he could be like a "thinner Alfred Hitchcock," a reference to the director's famous cameos.
- Rip Torn will be playing Commander Root.
- Winona Ryder will play captain Holly Short.
- Artemis Fowl II will be played by Nicholas Hoult.
This cast is not 100% accurate. All details about the movie has been kept a secret by Eoin Colfer and his script writer.
In an [1] interview with Eoin Colfer in 2002, he said that he was "especially glad that they are going to be looking for an Irish Artemis."
