ART Grand Prix

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

ART Grand Prix is a French GP2 motor racing team run by Frederic Vasseur and Nicolas Todt. The team is operated by the same organization as the successful ASM Formula 3 Team. ART Grand Prix was formed because ASM F3 decided that it was time to move up in the world of international motorsports by entering the second-tier championship, the new GP2 series which replaced Formula 3000 for the 2005 Season.

In 2005 the teams cars were driven by Alexandre Prémat and Nico Rosberg. Rosberg became the first ever GP2 Champion. Impressively he scored points at every race meeting. Premat was 4th in the championship, giving ART the constructors championship in their first year in the sport.

For 2006, Prémat remained with the team, and was partnered by Lewis Hamilton, who moved up from the sister ASM Formula 3 Team, after dominating the F3 Euro Series for them. Nico Rosberg left the team, moving up to Williams, in Formula One. Hamilton took an impressive title in his debut season, whilst the solid performances of Prémat helped clinch a second consecutive constructors championship.
