He speaks five languages

Speaks at least 3 languages (French, English and German; no suprise, since he is from Strasbourg).

Alex Ferguson was knighted...should the title always be displayed?

Whilst on the subject of Fergie, in footballing terms, he too is a foreigner, as Scotland is independent with it's own FA and league system, meaning that Arsene is not the only foreigner to do the double, as both Fergie and Kenny Dalglish are foreigners as far as football is concerned. I'm not going to change it, as whenever I change anything, even if my changes are correct, someone puts it back and sends me a message telling me not to change stuff, so can someone else in a position of authority please correct this mistake.

[edit] Arsène Wenger

I suggest to remove the last paragraph Controversies as it is small talk and very unimportant detail in such a man's career. The paragraph looks so elemantery and outdated as news.

Wenger must be German background...his last name doesnt sound French.... Does anybody know??? Its never mentioned which is a bit of a surprise....

He's from Strasbourg. Markyour words 21:52, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
Strasbourg is in the Alsace region which changed between "German" and French rule several times in the last 200 years. I did read an article that mentioned that his ancestors fought against 'the other side' but I can't remember which side they fought for, or if the sides were different for each generation.

Why does it say in the awards section: In October 2004, he signed a contract extension that will keep him at Arsenal through the 2007/2008 season. What has this got to do with awards? sludgey choi chi men sohne

[edit] Top 2 finishes

I changed the sentence about never being outside the top 2 since 1998 as they scraped into 4th this year.

[edit] English players

I've made an edit to the comment about him not fielding "any" English players - change made to "many", due to the fact that he does actually field a few, including Sol Campbell and Ashley Cole. Cyril Washbrook 07:49, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Controversies

The article appears skewed towards events in last season maybe the section should be divided into rivalries with Sir Alex Ferguson/Manchester United, Morinhio/Chelsea and Jol/Tottenham Hotspur —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Vivbaker (talkcontribs).

So the main part of his career/life/biography is his rivalries with other managers? I don't think so. Yonatanh 02:59, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
The change in Arsenal's disciplinary record since the game at ManU in 2003 is worth pointing out, but I otherwise agree with you. Xiner 16:49, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

Is there no other good picture of the Professor in casual clothes? There's a guy in the background in the current one. Xiner 16:50, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

That guy is Boro Primorac, Arsenal's first team coach! (And a longtime right hand man of Arsene) TheMongoose 04:29, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] BBC investigation into English football

Re the Panorama tv show on "bungs" shown 19 Sep 06: Is Wenger the manager that didn't show up to the hotel to collect the 50k from the agent? I think that was implied (Premiership; top London club; blurred shots of red seats in a stadium; quoted using a French-language term for a "sting")? 86.7.208.240 22:51, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] School Teacher?

I've heard it said Wenger taught in a school for a while, is this true?
