The S.S. Arosa Star was the third largest ship of the Arosa Line, a Swiss Caribbean cruise line, operating in the mid-1950s, with General Agents in Washington, New York, and Miami. The 2 larger ships in the fleet were the Arosa Sky, the flagship; the older Arosa Sun was originally the French-built Felix Rouselle. Then came the Arosa Star with the dreadful Arosa Kulm bringing up the rear. The Arosa Star was a ship which travelled several different lines, with many crew on board. Kurt Ebberg was master, Alex Von Blessingh was first officer, Ernest Kuehne was Chief Engineer, Karl Nahrath was Chief Purser, Hasso Wolf was the Doctor of the ship, and the line was under control of Nicolo Rizzi, president of the line.

The Arosa Star sailed out of Miami, voyaging the Caribbean and stopping at several different ports for several different voyages. Sailing out of Miami was the Arosa Sun, measuring 20,126 gross tonnes and registered to Sweden.

The line offered three-day cruises to Nassau for $60, four-day cruises to Havana and Nassau for $75, fifteen-day cruises from New York to the Virgin Islands, Martinique, Barbados, Curaçao, Port-au-Prince, Havana, then back to New York for only $350, and many more trips on their three ships: the Arosa Star, 10,000 tonnes, Arosa Sun, and the Arosa Sky, 20,000 tonnes.

After the Cuban revolution, the line dissolved due to loss of a major harbour that it serviced and loss from the three-day and four-day trips to Havana. This was a line that was mainly travelled by Germans and Jews who lived in the United States during the 1950s, after having escaped Germany. The crews on the line spoke either English, German, or Hebrew.
