Arnold is a census-designated place (CDP) in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, United States. The population was 23,422 at the 2000 census. Neighborhoods straddle both College Parkway as well as Ritchie Highway. The ZIP code is 21012.

The early settlement of Arnold, an area between the Magothy and Severn Rivers, began with the farm of John Arnold. Arnold, a veteran of the War of 1812, acquired 300 acres on the north side of the Severn River. [1]

Arnold is located at 39°2′50″N, 76°29′48″W (39.047263, -76.496552)^GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 34.7 km² (13.4 mi²). 28.0 km² (10.8 mi²) of it is land and 6.8 km² (2.6 mi²) of it (19.46%) is water.

As of the census^GR2 of 2000, there were 23,422 people, 8,373 households, and 6,396 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 837.3/km² (2,168.7/mi²). There were 8,623 housing units at an average density of 308.3/km² (798.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 91.49% White, 4.83% African American, 0.18% Native American, 1.49% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.59% from other races, and 1.38% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.89% of the population.

There were 8,373 households out of which 40.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.8% were married couples living together, 9.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.6% were non-families. 18.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.76 and the average family size was 3.15.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 27.8% under the age of 18, 6.1% from 18 to 24, 30.6% from 25 to 44, 26.9% from 45 to 64, and 8.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 93.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.1 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $74,002, and the median income for a family was $83,633. Males had a median income of $52,345 versus $36,337 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $31,236. About 2.0% of families and 3.0% of the population were below the poverty line, including 2.9% of those under age 18 and 3.5% of those age 65 or over.

Anne Arundel Community College is located in Arnold along College Parkway, and is annually rated one of the top community colleges in the nation.

The Bay Hills Golf Course is in Arnold.

Arnold contains many scenic riversides with cliffs and beaches, providing plenty of places for leisure and sight seeing. There are 12 marinas in Arnold. Sandy Point State Park is approximately two or three miles east of Arnold proper and includes a beach on the Chesapeake Bay in proximity to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Marshes and creeks can also be found in the park and are home to wildlife found throughout the Chesapeake Bay, including blue crabs, herons, terrapins, rockfish, eagles, and so on.

George's Restaurant is located in the Bay Hills shopping center. It is a small Greek and Italian restaurant serving elegant entrees along with pizza and subs. O'Loughin's Restaurant is also located in the same shopping center and has a bar.
