Arnines

Arnines (for "R9") are New York City Subway cars built in the 1930s and 1940s for the Independent Subway System. Although hundreds were built, only a handful remain. Some of those are operational in such places as East Haven, Connecticut, and the New York Transit Museum. Eight cars on New York City Transit property are operational and used for excursion runs and occasional revenue service.
The numbers of the cars are:
- 100, 381 R1
- 401 (often carrying different numbers), 484 R4
- 1000, 1300 R6
- 1575 rebuilt R7A
- 1802 R9
The Arnine car classes are: R1, R4, R7, and R9
