[edit] Biography
[edit] Early life
Armik Dashchi was born in Iran, of Armenian descent. At the age of seven he pawned his watch for a classical guitar, which he hid and practiced in his basement. Upon discovering his aptitude, his parents paid for music lessons. He became a professional recording artist at the age of 12. His early career focused on jazz; however, after seeing a performance by Paco de Lucía he was inspired to explore Spanish music. He recorded an album with Iranian musician 'Faramarz Aslani' in late 1975.
[edit] Commercial Success
In 1981 he moved from Iran to Los Angeles to pursue this new direction, playing with other artists live and in studio. In 1994 he released his solo debut album "Rain Dancer", a commercial success which was followed up by "Gypsy Flame" in 1995, considered by many to be his greatest work.
