Armed Forces Merchandise Outlet

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Armed Forces Merchandise Outlet is a military and outdoor gear supply company based in Richardson, Texas. The origin of Armed Forces Merchandise Outlet goes back over 70 years to a small apparel manufacturer who began producing high-quality trousers for the United States military. Public demand for quality Mil-spec merchandise lead to the Texas Army Navy Stores chain in 1947. In 1996, Armed Forces Merchandise Outlet became the first military surplus supplier on the Internet. It has since used innovative information technology and marketing principles to remain a chief supplier to the United States military and other government agencies.

In May of 2006, the company launched a new website operating on new e-commerce software. This added new functionality, such as improved customer relations management, order tracking, live customer service chat, and customer discount applications.

The company also sells via the General Services Administration under contract #GS-07F-0814N.
