According to [1] and [2], he had a Swedish grandparent, but what is the source for his parents being Swedish? Fleminra 08:43, Dec 1, 2004 (UTC)

Is this for real? It's in the World War II section, and comes after statements that he commanded destroyer squadrons before being promoted to commodore and moved to carriers. Seems strange that there's no mention of any pilot training in the section on his earlier life, and seems strange that a naval aviator would command destroyer squadrons...
