Arjen Anthony Lucassen (born April 3, 1960) is a composer and musician from the Netherlands. He sings and plays a large variety of instruments, including guitars, flutes and synthesizers. Although he cannot read or write music, obviously as a guitar player, he knows chords and specific chord arrangements. In bands like Ayreon, he gathers a large group of musicians and records albums with them. He is often credited with having revived the rock opera genre.

Arjen is known for loving to get emails from his fans, and answers them rather diligently, as quickly as he can in his hectic schedule.
