Aristolochia littoralis (Calico Flower, syn. A. elegans Mast) is an evergreen vine with large, heart-shaped flowers. The plant is native to Brazil, and is an invasive species in the southern United Statesand Australia where it kills the catterpillers of the threatened Richmond Birdwing Butterfly.
Flowers are large and trumpet shaped with intricate brown markings, winged seeds are borne in dry capsules that split like small parachutes. Plants in the related genus Pararistolochia differ by having fleshy moist fruit that do no split.
