Argent Dawn
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Argent Dawn is an organization in the fictional Warcraft Universe dedicated to fighting the undead Scourge that controls most of the ruined kingdom of Lordaeron. The Argent Dawn accepts aid from any that are willing to help them fight against the Scourge, even repentant undead, such as Leonid Barthalomew the Revered. The Argent Dawn views the Scourge to be the predominant threat to Azeroth and has little time for what it considers to be petty squabbles between the Horde and the Alliance. The Argent Dawn is led by Lord Maxwell Tyrosus and Duke Nicholas Zverenhoff.

[edit] Organization
The Argent Dawn does not have many members, numbering only 1,500 members total, but what it lacks in size, it more than makes up for in strength of will. The members of the Argent Dawn are dedicated to their goal of eliminating the Scourge and healing the ravaged continent of Lordaeron. Although primarily composed of humans, the Argent Dawn welcomes members of all races be they Alliance or the Horde. Members includes a few Night Elves, orcs, and even the rare free-willed Undead. The Argent Dawn's methods are radically different from the other group in Azeroth bent on the Undead's destruction, the Scarlet Crusade.
The overall command of the Argent Dawn is kept secret, for fear of possible assassination attempts against the organization's leadership. There is also no known official headquarters of the Argent Dawn, though they operate branches in several major cities. What is known is that the organization is split along regional lines, each region headed by a single Commander who is assisted by a small council of officers.
[edit] Operations
The Argent Dawn, being few in number, often recruits adventurers in its fight against the Scourge. Those who accept the commission of the Argent Dawn are able to exchange Scourgestones (insignia carried by the Scourge to denote rank) for Valor Tokens, used either to buy items from the Argent Dawn or to increase one's standing with the Argent Dawn. Agents of the Argent Dawn are attempting to sabotage the cauldrons used by the Scourge to spread their plague of undeath and collect data on the plague in the hopes of finding a way to counter it.
The Argent Dawn also fights against the Scarlet Crusade, which it sees as a group of blind zealots and a threat to the entire world. Despite their common goal, the leaders of the Argent Dawn view the Scarlet Crusade as a perversion of the Holy Light.
[edit] Bases of Operation
[edit] Chillwind Camp
A small camp on the border between the Western Plaguelands and Alterac Mountains, Chillwind Camp lies just south of the ruins of Andorhal. Weldon Barov, one of the last two heirs of the Barov family fortune, resides here under Alliance protection.
[edit] Light's Hope Chapel
The Argent Dawn's main base of operations, it is located in the Eastern Plaguelands, just south of the Scourge-infested Noxious Glade and north of the Scarlet Crusade garrison of Tyr's Hand. It is very small, consisting of only a ruined church and cemetery. The Argent Dawn's leaders, Lord Maxwell Tyrosus and Duke Nicholas Zverenhoff, reside here among other notable Argent Dawn members (such as Leonid Barthalomew the Revered, a former member of the Forsaken).
[edit] The Bulwark
An earthworks guarding the road from the Western Plaguelands to the Tirisfal Glade, it serves to contain the Scourge to the Plaguelands. Alexi Barov, the undead brother of Weldon Barov, resides here under the protection of the Horde.
[edit] Guildhouses
The Argent Dawn also maintains two guildhouses, one in the city of Stormwind, which is empty, and the other in the city of Darnassus.
[edit] Trivia
The name Argent Dawn is based on the fact that it is always darkest before dawn, the darkness here being the Scourge, and the dawn being the forces of good.
