Areas in the Ratchet & Clank series
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This article is about various areas in the Ratchet & Clank series of video games.
[edit] Annihilation Nation - Station Q9
This is the Solana Galaxy's favourite deathcourse! Get past the sinister and unpredictable Gauntlet challenges and face off baddies in the arena. Defeat Scorpio and those terrible two: Gary and Helen, to win big prizes and cash.
[edit] Aranos - Flying Lab
The mountains on this world are the home of an airborne laboratory belonging to former Megacorp employee Angela Cross, who used it as a refuge after stealing the Protopet, until it was raided by Megacorp's newest commando: Ratchet. Later, the vessel is appropriated by Thugs-4-less, who use it as a prison, incarcerating Ratchet and Clank there.
[edit] Aridia - Outpost X11 & X12
A dry, almost dead planet. The ship of Skidd McMarx was attacked in orbit over the planet, and crashed at Outpost X11, a weapons facility under construction. During the war against Dr. Nefarious, Ratchet helps the Galactic Rangers battle against the Tyhrranoids at Outpost X12.
[edit] Aquatos - Deep Sea Hideout
This planet is 99% water. The inhabitants of this planet are either aquatic creatures, or they live in the connected network of tunnels on the sea floor. In this level, Ratchet and Clank must split up to find Dr. Nefarious' hideout. You can also buy Ratchet & Clank 2 weapons from Slim Cognito and search for Sewer Crystals for the plumber to earn bolts. It is also mentioned as the home planet of Hydro-Girl during Deadlocked.
[edit] Barlow - Vokuvar Canyon
Ratchet fights the Vukovar Tribesmen on Barlow, a planet in the Bogon Galaxy. Vukovar Canyon is the location of the remnants of a Gadgetron outlet, which, it is later implied, was attacked by Megacorp to prevent Gadgetron from expanding into the galaxy. A matronly sales-bot survived, however, and will sell her remaining wares to passers-by. The Canyon is also a hoverbike race track, attracting many a tourist to the otherwise barren wasteland.
[edit] Batalia - Fort Krontos
This island world was under attack by the Blarg, assaulted with tanks, bombers, and fighter jets. Ratchet and Clank assisted a commando fighting the Blarg here, and shot down the Blargian bombers with the help of their old friend the Plumber.
[edit] Boldan - Silver City
Ratchet and Clank journey to Silver City on Boldan during their adventures in the Bogon Galaxy. The city is swarming with Thugs-4-Less troopers. Ratchet and Clank were captured at the end of the level and were sent to the Aranos Prison. A dry fountain in the courtyard at the start of the level can take you to the Insomniac Museum when Ratchet stands on the teleporter at exactly 3:00 am.
[edit] Catacrom Four - Robot Graveyard
The Catacrom Graveyard on Catacrom Four is a world in the Shadow Sector once used as a robot burial ground. The undead formerly resting underneath the earth have not taken kindly to DreadZone using the planet as an obstacle course, and are likely to take it out on any contestants who walk over their graves.
[edit] Damosel - Allgon City
In Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, Ratchet and Clank had to fight through Allgon City, a residential and commercial city of robots that had been overrun by the Protopets, which multiply quickly by throwing up other Protopets. Extermibots were deployed to eradicate the infestation, but since their target data simply said "Small and Fuzzy", they were just as likely to attack Ratchet as the Protopets! It is funny how Damosel sounds like "Damsel" and Allgon City sounds like "All Gone City," reference to think that this planet will be taken over.
[edit] Damosel Orbit
Another Giant Clank fight, this time on the moon of Damosel Orbit. A U.F.O. Mothership was waiting on the world for a challenger, and Ratchet and Clank defeated her and her children to acquire the Map-O-Matic, a gadget that allowed Ratchet to see forbidden areas on the map.
[edit] Daxx - Research Facility
This research facility is home to the information on the Biobliterator. Ratchet and Clank searched the building to find more intelligence on Dr. Nefarious. They also explored the docks where they discovered that Courtney Gears was in Nefarious' league. This is apparently a reference to Daxter, of the Jak and Daxter series. Ratchet pauses when he hears the name, probably because he may have heard it somewhere.
[edit] DreadZone Station - Battledome
This station is headquarters for the underground combat sport DreadZone. It is divided into three areas. The Containment Suites are where heroes are imprisoned and picked up for battle. The Battledome is an arena area where heroes are pitted against gladiators and obstacle courses. The Control Level is an intricate area where electrical wiring and computers monitor the rest of the station. In Deadlocked, Ratchet was imprisoned here by DreadZone and forced to compete, but escaped by messing with the equipment in the Control Level.
[edit] Dobbo - Testing Facility
Planet Dobbo in Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando is home of the Megacorp Testing Facility, to "ensure that your toaster doesn't explode in your face". The Thief, recently found out to be a female Lombax, insisted on the exploration of this planet, but the reason was not clear. On this planet, Ratchet found out about the Protopet menace.
[edit] Dobbo Orbit
After meeting the "Mathematician" back on Dobbo, Ratchet and Clank travelled to this tiny world to face off against the Thugs-4-Less leader. The reward was a trip to the Megacorp Games on the planet Joba. Clank transformed into his giant self to fight the boss.
[edit] Endako - Megapolis
Megapolis is the Bogon Galaxy's equivalent to the Solana Galaxy's Metropolis. This enormous hustle and bustle of the city was where Clank stayed whilst Ratchet fought evil, but Clank was robotnapped and Ratchet returned to the city to find him. Ratchet came across the Thug Leader here, and battled with him. He saved Clank from the Thief and they both escaped.
[edit] Eudora - Logging Site
Eudora is a pleasant forest world that was deforested by the Blarg in an effort to collect trees for their new world. The operations there were overseen by Drek's Robot Lieutenant.
[edit] Feltzin System - Thug Rendezvous
The Feltzin System in Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando is a huge asteroid field with the Thugs-4-Less rendezvous station located in one of the asteroids. Some of the asteroids has a tunnel drilled through it, though travel through is not too safe.
[edit] Florana - Nabla Forest
In Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal, Ratchet & Clank must search the Nabla Forest for a mysterious being who is claimed to be the only person to have defeated Dr. Nefarious. Walk the Path of Death and find out who the man is.
[edit] Gaspar - Blarg Depot
Planet Gaspar is a very large, red, volcanic world where Blargs feel most comfortable working. Many Blarg labratories are stationed on this planet, where the Blarg invent most of their material. Gadgets and weaponry inventing-the Blarg species's most notable talent-is done here all the time.
In Blarg Depot, one of the large inventing and testing stations, the "Pilot's Helmet" was invented by Blarg scientists. Ratchet and Clank go here to steal the Pilot's Helmet so they can use it for various reasons. The most notable use is for driving the Blarg Fighter Ship in Gremlik Base during the battle with Captain Qwark. The Pilot's Helmet was first used on Planet Pokitaru to destroy the Blargian bomb ships that were attacking Jowaii Resort and poisoning its warm waters.
Many towers with rings atop them stand around in the lava seas on Gaspar; the buildings at Blarg Station have round orb-shapes atop their roofs, a lot like Russian towers. Small, red, flying rocks drift through the skies of Gaspar.
[edit] Gorn - Thugs-4-Less Fleet
Another planet that you can only travel with your ship on. Thunderstorms fill the atmosphere, with high mountain peaks reaching above. Seems as if life exists on hovering structures nearby these peaks. The area seems to occasionally be beset by pirates. This bears a striking similarity to Gorm, a Galidor villain.
[edit] Ghost Station - Gauntlet of Doom
This haunted, abandoned station houses the 'Gauntlet of Doom,' a prototype DreadZone battle course mathematically proven to be unbeatable. Ratchet was sent here by Vox as punishment for insubordination, and managed to reach the hovership inside the station. Ratchet then destroyed the station so that it could never be used again.
[edit] Grelbin - Tundor Wastes
This cold world in the Bogon Galaxy is the home of Angela Cross. The vast, frigid plains beyond are full of moonstones, which seem to be valuable only to certain mystics. They are also home to massive Ice Leviathans which live underneath the snow and ice, as well as savage Yeti-like creatures. Raritanium can also be mined from under the surface.
[edit] Holostar Studios - Lot 48 & Lot 49
Holostar Studios is the main source for entertainment in the Solana Galaxy and possibly the Bogon Galaxy as well. Film a Secret Agent Clank episode and defeat the Terror of Talos as Clank and escape the Tyhrranoid ambush as Ratchet.
[edit] Hoven - Bomb Factory
The Blarg developed their Planet Buster weapon on this snowy world. Ratchet and Clank had to stop the construction, before it was too late. This planet is also a loaded source of Raritanium, and home to Edwina's RoboShack.
[edit] Hrugis Cloud - Disposal Facility
An artificial planet-like facility created by Megacorp. It is a secure disposal facility, with laser turrets and shield generators guarding the facility. Traversing may be confusing, since the camera can shift to any angle of the sphere. It also seems that it is being constantly attacked by saboteurs and viruses. You can only travel with your ship here.
[edit] Joba - Megacorp Games
Planet Joba is a lush, forest planet which is home to the Megacorp Games in Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando. The area around the Megacorp facility is also overrun by tribemen and beasts who are cousins to the enemies found on Barlow.
[edit] Kalebo III - Gadgetron Site
This bustling city is the centre of Gadgetron. You can find hoverboard races, weapon discounts and the longest grind rail in the galaxy all here at Gadgetron H.Q. Be wary of Drek's elite forces here and watch out for those Gadgetron Testing Bots. They don't know the difference between a Lombax and a Blargian Snagglebeast!
[edit] Kerwan - Metropolis
Kerwan is the home of the massive city of Metropolis, as well as the location of Big Al's Robo Shack. Captain Qwark's fitness course and Robot Trains are featured in the first game. Later, Ratchet returns to the planet to help fend off an attack by the Tyhrannoids, when Dr. Nefarious unveils his Biobliterator, using it to transform the inhabitants into robots, even the invading Tyhrannoids. Metropolis may be a reference to the Metropolis in the Superman comics. It is the biggest city in the Solana Galaxy and seems to be a city in the sky, since underneath the floating sidewalks and huge buildings is cloudiness. Blimps float around in the sky and plants grow around on the futuristic buildings.
[edit] Koros - Nefarious BFG
Koros is the planet which boasts the Ion Cannon, similar to the one found at Outpost X11 on Aridia, except much bigger. The Biobliterator was stationed here for a pit stop before it would supposedly turn Veldin's population into robots.
[edit] Kronos - Dark Cathedral
The Dark Cathedral of Kronos has been turned into the longest DreadZone campaign in Ratchet: Deadlocked. At the end, one of the exterminators awaits...Shellshock! The Dark Cathedral is a playable world in the multiplayer mode, as well.
[edit] Maktar Nebula - Maktar Resort
This space station is where the Megacorp Galactic Gladiator Games are held. It is a resort and casino, with famous people from across the galaxy come to enjoy the luxurious rooms. Awaiting limosines are transporters to and from the arena. This is also the home of famous gladiator Chainblade and his robotic counterpart, the B2 Brawler.
[edit] Thugs-4-Less' Jamming Array
This moon was the first "run around the world in a minute" planets in Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando. Ratchet had to dismantle the Jamming Transponders that were blocking the coverage of the Gladiator Games hosted back on Maktar Resort.
[edit] Marcadia - Capital City
This planet is the Solana Galaxy's capital city. It was left in ruins after the Tyhrranoid invasion but was soon rebuilt. The Galactic Palace is based in the middle of the city. Another important facility is the Laser Defense Grid, which protects the planet from invading armies.
[edit] Maraxus - Desert Prison
Maraxus is a desert planet on the fringe of the Shadow Sector. Ratchet had to travel here in Ratchet: Deadlocked to rescue his trapped bots, Merc and Green, and escape the Maraxus Prison.
[edit] Mylon - Launch Site
The last planet in Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal is Nefarious' base on planet Mylon. The second Biobliterator was ready for launch here, and Ratchet had to make his way through the base's defences to get to Dr. Nefarious. In the end, Ratchet went into battle with Nefarious at the actual launch site and then destroyed the Biobliterator, thereby ending Nefarious' reign of terror.
[edit] Nebula G34 - Blarg Station
This nebula is home to the Blarg Station, where Drek had many new gadgets developed for his army. When Ratchet and Clank visited there, one wing had been over run by genetically-altered Mutant Aliens and their queen, and the duo also managed to blow up a decommissioned battle ship.
[edit] Notak - Canal City
An oceanic planet, full of canals, streets, tall buildings, shopping malls, and promenades. Cities here resemble Italy during the Renaissance somewhat. A chemical factory also resides here, where the thief gathers materials for destruction of the protopet.
[edit] Novalis - Tobruk Crater
Novalis is an Earth-like, inhabited world that was invaded by the Blarg in the first Ratchet and Clank game. Ratchet and Clank crashed here, but were able to get a courier ship from the planetary chairman. It was here that Ratchet and Clank first encountered the Plumber.
[edit] Obani Draco - Zygan System
This moon was home to Courtney Gears and her Biobliterator Testing Laboratory. Skidd was morphed into a robot here and the diva herself, Courtney Gears, was destroyed by Ratchet and Clank.
[edit] Obani Gemini - Zygan System
This is the planet in the third game that had the same layout as the "run around the planet in one minute" worlds of Going Commando. Ratchet had to connect the laser beams to shut down the forcefield that was guarding the Obani Teleporter.
[edit] Obani Pollux - Zygan System
The second area of the Obani Moon System has a lot more enemies than its predecessor. Ratchet's only objective was to meet up with Skidd at the end of the level.
[edit] Oltanis - Gorda City Ruins
Oltanis is constantly ravaged by lightning storms, but lighting rods absorb the bolts and convert them into energy. Clank could not go out here because of the storms. The Blarg decimated Gorda City here, leaving only ruins. This is also where Ratchet encountered Captain Quark or "Steve" and bought the Gadgetron PDA.
[edit] Oltanis Orbit - Gemlik Base
The Gemlik Base was where Drek was stationed at one time in Ratchet & Clank. The place was filled with Drek's guards, and when Drek escaped the space station Ratchet and Clank searched the area for anything that might show where he went. However, Captain Qwark was waiting at the end of the level for a surprise attack, but Ratchet destroyed him.
[edit] Oozla - Megacorp Outlet
A fearsome planet covered in pools of toxic sludge. It was once a Megacorp Shopping Complex until it was overrun by the swamp monsters. There are still some workers left around the building and in Going Commando Ratchet had to buy some equipment off one of the survivors. Judging by the building layout in the Swamp Ruins, it is possible that rains have flooded the planet.
[edit] Orxon - Kogor Mines & Refineries
Orxon is the polluted, poisonous and overpopulated home planet of the Blarg. Ultimate Supreme Executive Chairman Drek was the dictator of this world until he thought of the idea to take bits of other planets and combine them to make a new one (in the end it was found out that he was going to pollute his new planet just like Orxon for cash). Ratchet had to explore the Kogor Refinery to find any more information on Drek. Later, Dreadzone decided to hold challenges on the planet where contestants had to destroy a rartanium mining facility.
[edit] Pokitaru - Jowai Resort
The calm, tropical planet of Pokitaru is where the Jowai Resort is located. When Ratchet and Clank arrive in search of the O2 mask, they find that the Blarg have been dumping toxic sludge into the water, inadventantly transforming the wildlife into ferocious mutants. Ratchet must escort the resort manager to the other end of the resort, fly a jet to destroy the large Blargian Toxin Ships, and earn the O2 mask. After Drek's defeat, Quark was arrested while trying to hide out on the restored resort. In Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters Ratchet and Clank will take a vacation there.
[edit] Rilgar - Blackwater City
The dockside Blackwater City is located here. In the first game, Ratchet participated in the hoverboard races here. In Up Your Arsenal, Ratchet and the Galactic Rangers defended the city from Tyhrranoid invaders.
[edit] Sarathos - Leviathan Swamp
The swampy and murky planet of Sarathos is home to the Leviathans, a race of enormous scorpion-like monsters. These creatures make the planet a perfect setting for a DreadZone deathcourse and their leader, the King of the Leviathans, is up for a battle in the Sarathos Arena.
[edit] Shaar - Meteor Temple
Shaar is home to the ancient Meteor Temple of Shaar. In Ratchet: Deadlocked, the historical location is turned into a war zone for the violent reality show DreadZone. Ratchet must claim the temple by capturing the nodes around the battlefield. In multiplayer mode, the Temple of Shaar is playable.
[edit] Siberius - Frozen Base
Ratchet battles against the Thief to rescue the Protopet on an icy research station on this planet. The action on this planet involves a running battle against the thief on a massive moving landtrain.
[edit] Ship Shack - Outer Space
The Ship Shack is a small satellite in the Bogon Galaxy where Slim Cognito sells his illegal ship upgrades and modifications.
[edit] Smolg - Distribution Facility
A planet with a vast atmosphere, supposedly covered in smog. A Megacorp Distribution Facility rises high into the sky on massive pylons, where the company is transporting protopets throughout the galaxy. Enemies mainly include ravenous mutant creatures and robots.
[edit] Snivelak - Thug H.Q.
The home of the headquarters of the thugs. Many helicopters, tanks and other heavy vehicles reside here. The planet is covered mainly with lava. Ratchet also faces off with the thug leader's giant robot in the city.
[edit] Starship Phoenix - Outer Space
The Starship Phoenix is the Galactic Rangers H.Q. and acts as the hub of Ratchet & Clank 3. Most of the missions in the game order you to travel back to the Phoenix for a briefing on your next mission or to complete a vid-comic. You can also test out weapons in the VR Simulations, buy some new armour or paint your ship a new colour!.
[edit] Stygia - Tempus Control Station
Stygia is a stormy planet, constantly experiencing lightning storms. The planet is also continually barraged with meteor storms. To circumvent this, the people of Stygia harness lighting energy to power a shield, protecting the planet. In Deadlocked, Ratchet had to reactivate the energy shield in order to save the planet from being decimated by meteors.
[edit] Tabora - Mining Area
A desert wasteland where Fizzwidget retrieves Ratchet's acquired experiment, accidentally crushing his ship in the process. The topography of this planet includes a vast desert terrain, similar to the endless tundra on planet Grelbin. These dunes are home to Crystals, who can be traded to the Mystic by your ship in return for a repair, and also for bolts.
[edit] Thran Asteroid Belt - Qwark's Hideout
This icy asteroid is where Qwark had been hiding since his supposed death on Zeldrin. Ratchet had to fight the Robot Qwark Security Guards and find Qwark himself in his quarters. The Gadgetron PDA is also found here.
[edit] Todano - Megacorp Armoury
This planet has a Megacorp testing facility. This facility is also a tourist zone, with frequent school excursions being held to "teach students the history of Megacorp". The facility is placed on a dam, filled with mutated squirrels and security robots. It is somewhat dangerous.
[edit] Torval - Toy Factory
Ratchet visited this industrial planet in Deadlocked, where he had to explore an abandoned Ace Hardlight toy factory for a hidden ship to escape the planet.
[edit] Tyhrranosis - Korgon Base
This planet is home to the Tyhrranoids, the main alien race you have to battle in Ratchet and Clank 3. In the game, Ratchet had to defeat the Momma Tyhrranoid inside her lair. To do that though, all mortar launchers and plasma cannons had to be silenced to allow the dropship free space to move in. After defeating the Momma Tyhrranoid, Ratchet could help the Rangers take control of Kavu Island.
[edit] Umbris - Qwark's H.Q.
This wasteland planet is home to Captain Qwark's headquarters and his obstacle-course labyrinth. Here, Ratchet and Clank were betrayed by Qwark and forced to fight the Blargian Snagglebeast.
[edit] Valix Belt - Gamma Energy Lighthouse
The Valix Belt is a meteor cluster in the Shadow Sector. In Deadlocked, Ratchet had to reactivate the Gamma Energy Beam, a lighthouse of sorts, to warn ships of the meteors.
[edit] Veldin - Kyzil Plateau
Veldin, more specifically Kyzil Plateau, is Ratchet's home. This is the place where the Ratchet and Clank series started. You found Clank, defeated Drek and stopped the Tyhrranoid invasion right here, and when Veldin is under attack, Ratchet is soon to come round to defend his beloved home. Veldin is filled with rocky canyons and steep mountains.
[edit] Veldin Orbit - Drek's Fleet
This is Drek's Fleet, and home to the Deplanetizer. Unfortunately, Ratchet and Clank didn't get enough time to disarm the Deplanetizer, but they did manage to destroy the defensive turrets and shields surrounding the fleet. You can explore the water system in the main ship, but you will need the hologuise to traverse the rest of the ships.
[edit] Wupash Nebula - Outer Space
This level is briefly visited only once in Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando. On the way to Maktar Casino, Ratchet is attacked by 2 waves of 20 ships each. Ratchet must fend them off before continuing. Once the mission is complete, Wupash Nebula cannot be visited again.
[edit] Yeedil - Protopet Factory
Yeedil is where the Megacorp Headquarters and the Protopet Factory are located, featured in Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando. It is the last planet in the game and you face off against the Mutated Protopet in the Protopet Duplication Room.
[edit] Zeldrin - Crash Site
Ratchet and Clank checked out the crash site of the "Leviathan" to see if there was any sign of Qwark or what he was trying to look for when the ship went down. Ratchet had to get past the troopers stationed around the wreck to reach Qwark's escape pod.
[edit] Zeldrin Starport - Joraal Nebula
This level in Ratchet & Clank 3 takes us to where Nefarious' cruise ship was docked and refuelling. Ratchet had to meet up with Qwark and his monkey and set off for the "Leviathen". You can also look around the actual starport to find some stuff, such as the Bolt Grabber v2.
