North American telephone area code 757 was established July 1, 1996 as a split from area code 804. It covers the southeast corner of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The region within its service area includes the following:
- The vast majority of the Hampton Roads metropolitan area, encompassing:
- The Virginia Peninsula, including Newport News, Hampton, and Williamsburg, and
- South Hampton Roads, including Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, and Suffolk.
- The Eastern Shore of Virginia, the portion of Virginia on the Delmarva Peninsula.
