- In Hinduism, Ardra is a goddess, and the Nakshatra corresponding to Betelgeuse.
Under the traditional Hindu principle of naming individuals according to their birthstar (see Jyotisha), the following Sanskrit syllables correspond with this Nakshatra, and would belong at the beginning of a first name:
Ku (pronounced as in "quicksand")
Gha (pronounced as it appears)
Ng (pronounced as in "tongue")
Chha (pronounced as in "chicken")
- Great Ardra and Little Ardra are historical places in former Dahomey (nowadays Benin), Africa.
- Ardra is also a character in Star Trek TNG.
