combined article of two individuals:

Archduke Joseph Anton of Austria, Palatine of Hungary the elder (1776-1848) was the emperor's representative in Budapest, controlling the Kingdom of Hungary.

His both sons, first Archduke Stephen of Austria and then Joseph the younger (see below), became in turn Palatines of Hungary.

He had several children, most of them born from his third marriage and late in his life. Two of his daughters became prominent:

Archduke Joseph of Austria, Palatine of Hungary the younger (1833-1905) was Palatine in the time of so-called dual monarchy. He was the younger son of the aforementioned namesake of his third marriage with Maria Dorothea of Wurttemberg.

He married Princess Clothilde of Kohary, of the princely House of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha's Hungarian branch, a descendant of high nobility of Hungarian realm. Clothilde was also a sister of the future King Fedinand I of Bulgaria. Clothilde was a daughter of August, Prince of Kohary and Clementine of France.

Joseph the younger became the successor of his elder half-brother Archduke Stephen as Palatine of Hungary.

Of their daughters, Archduchess Dorotya married Philippe VIII, Duke of Orleans, French pretender; and Archduchess Margit married the Prince of Thurn and Taxis.

Their eldest son was Archduke Joseph August of Austria (1872-1962) who became "grandson-in-law" to old Emperor Francis Joseph and a general. He married Augusta of Bavaria whose mother was Archduchess Gisela of Austria, the eldest surviving daughter of late Empress Elisabeth ("Sisi"). The young couple's children, starting from Archduke Joseph Francis of Austria (1895-1957, emperor's great-grandson), were born already in great-grandfather's lifetime,

This branch full of various Josephs is the so-called Hungarian branch of Habsburg dynasty.
