Archdiocese of Zagreb

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Zagreb (Croatian: Zagrebačka nadbiskupija, Latin: Archidioecesis Zagrebiensis) is the central archdiocese of the Catholic Church in Croatia, centered in the capital city Zagreb. It is the metropolitan see of Croatia, and the present archbishop is Josip Bozanić.
It encompasses the northern and eastern continental areas of Croatia and covers around 1,45 million Catholics. There are 722 priests and 312 parishes (2004).

The bishopric of Zagreb was founded in 1093. On November 11, 1852, it was elevated to the status of archbishopric.
