Arcadian Del Sol

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Arcadian Del Sol was the pen name of a writer who focused on news and issues relating to MMORPGs. Arcadian wrote for the blog The Rantings of Lum The Mad and then went on to write freelance for Computer Gaming World magazine.

[edit] Entering the fray

Arcadian Del Sol worked for a defense contractor before he became involved in the Ultima Online community. When Lum the Mad decided to recruit additional writers to The Rantings of Lum The Mad he chose Arcadian for his thoughtful and sometimes emotional posting style. Arcadian joined Hedron, Bob "gBob" Roland (who later worked for NetDevil), Lietgardis (who now works for Wolfpack Studios), Myschyf, Riprend, Savant (who until recently worked for Themis Group), and is Lum's Other Half (his wife). Despite initial resistance from the readers of Lum's site, Arcadian soon found himself a favorite of the writers. Arcadian was known to write more personal articles ranging on subjects as varied as his father, baseball, and his hat.

[edit] The diaspora

When The Rantings of Lum The Mad changed ownership, Arcadian stayed on trying to maintain the online community that had formed around Lum. Until a falling out over financial reasons, the site continued to be influential amongst designers and players of MMORPGs. Around this time Arcadian began submitting reviews and commentary for Computer Gaming World. Eventually Arcadian moved on from gaming and now writes infrequently on his own page.
