Arabianranta
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Arabianranta is a fast growing residential part of Helsinki, Finland. Situated close to the original Helsingfors as King Gustav I declared it before eventually it was moved some kilometers further south due to better harbour conditions. Arabianranta also houses the famous "Arabia"-factory known for its ceramic and glassware design and products. The "Arabianranta" itself is situated on the bayside of Hämeentie, a street beginning at Hakaniemi and continuing northwards. Frequent buses and trams makes a 20 min. ride to Helsinki city center. On the other side of the rather small bay is a popular national reserve with lots of deadly looking birds and thus bird-shagging is a favourite among the locals.
The residents of Arabianranta are especially cold and unfriendly even by Helsinki standards, with many displaying serious social retardation. These boring folk like to live a hermit lifestyle, only venturing outside their apartments in order to walk their dogs. Any attempt to engage in conversation or simply say hello will be met with a bowed head or an uncomfortable glance.
