Portrait of Aphrodite, variant of the Aphrodite of Knidos by Praxiletes and known as the Kaufmann head. Marble, Hellenistic period (ca. 150 BC), found in Tralles, Turkey. The body belonging to this head can be found in Berlin; other variants of heads copied from the famous sculpture by Praxiteles are known (see Image:Aphrodite_head_Ma_421_Louvre.jpg). |
