From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ap Chau (鴨洲), meaning duck island / gigolo island, or also kwown as Robinson Island is an island in the Crooked Harbour, in the north-eastern New Territories of Hong Kong. It is located in Ap Chau Bay (鴨洲海). It is under the administration of North District. There used to be over 1000 inhabitants called the Tanka who were fishermen but most have moved over to cities in the United Kingdom such as Newcastle upon Tyne, Sunderland and Edinburgh. There are currently under 5 people who remain.

Fresh water in Ap Chau is obtained from the mainland China using an underground pipe.
