Abram "Abe" Oudshoorn was born in London, Ontario, Canada on October 10, 1981. A junior nursing scholar, his first article "Power and empowerment: Critical concepts in the nurse-client relationship" was published in 2005. Abe is currently a doctoral student in the School of Nursing at the University of Western Ontario. His areas of expertise include health promotion, homelessness, critical ethnography, poverty, gerontology, palliative care, home care and community nursing.

Abe married his wife Melissa Litster in August of 2002. They have one son, Benjamin Roderick.
