Aoi Teshima (手嶌葵 Teshima Aoi?, born June 21, 1987 in Hakata, Fukuoka) is a Japanese singer and voice actor.
[edit] Career
While Aoi Teshima went to C&S music academy in Fukuoka, she began a music career as an amateur in 2003. In 2003 and 2004, she participated in a musical event "DIVA", which was held in Fukuoka, by the support of "Teen's Music Festival".
In March 2005, she acted in "Japan-Korea slow music's world" in South Korea and her performance was favorably received among the audience. The persons concerned watched this event and her performance attracted his attention. Finally, her appearance spread to anime director Gorō Miyazaki. Toshio Suzuki seems to have felt amazing when he listened to Bette Midler's The Rose, recorded on her demo tape.
Although she was given the job as voicing Therru (in Tales from Earthsea (film)), there are people saying that Goro Miyazaki used 'newcomers' instead of other actors. But her debut was greatly received and her voicing of Therru was great.
On June 7, 2006, she finally released a song called "Therru's song" (テルーの唄 Terū no Uta?). This song was used in a film directed by Gorō Miyazaki "Tales from Earthsea" (ゲド戦記 Gedo Senki?). She also voiced Therru.
On July 29 of the same year, the film was shown in Japan after releasing her song.
