"Anyone Who Had a Heart" is a 1960s song by legendary American songwriting duo Burt Bacharach and Hal David.

The song was originally written for Dionne Warwick. Warwick's version, released as a single in 1963 and eventually appearing on her album of the same name, became her first top ten hit on the Billboard Hot 100. The song's lyrics describe the pain felt by a singer as she continues to love the person to whom she sings, but is continually hurt by that person.

It was also a number one hit in the United Kingdom for British singer Cilla Black in 1964. The song was also recorded in the 1960s by female singers such as Vikki Carr and Dusty Springfield.

In 1982 it was used by the B.E.F. (British Electric Foundation) for their "Music of Quality and Distinction" album, on which they took old songs and had them recorded by different artists to a more 1980s electronic sound. This particular song was recorded for that album by Sandie Shaw. Shaw felt that the song had previously been recorded by women too young to fully understand the emotions needed for the song, and that she was at a more suitable point in her life to record it than she had been in her heyday.[citation needed] Other artists to record the song include Shirley Bassey, The Four Seasons, Maureen McGovern, Jan Graveson, Tim Curry, and Luther Vandross.
