[edit] Franchise history
Formed in 1994, the original name of the team was "Mando Winia", named after a sub-company of the Halla Group. It changed its name in 1998 to "Halla Winia", and was a powerhouse in the Korea Ice Hockey League, winning the league championship five times.
Once the Korea League folded, Halla Winia was the only company team that survived, absorbing talent from one of their rivals, the Don Won Dreams as they joined the Asia Ice Hockey League as a founding member.
With the expiry of a sponsorship contract, the Anyang Halla Winia removed the Winia (the name of an air conditioner) from their name for the 2005-2006 year.
