Antwerp Mannerism is the name given to a largely anonymous class of painters from Antwerp in the beginning of the 16th century. The style bore no direct relation to Renaissance or Mannerism in Italy, but the name suggests the peculiarity of the style, which was a reaction to the "classic" style of the earlier Flemish painters.[1] An important theme was the Adoration of the Magi.
