Antonín Kraft
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Antonin Kraft was a Czech cellist (1749–1820), and a close friend of Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven. He was cello soloist in Haydn's Esterhazy orchestra. He also studied composition with Haydn. Haydn dedicated his D major Cello Concerto to Kraft. Kraft took part in many of Beethoven's cello works, including the Triple Concerto, Op.56. Kraft helped establish the traditions of string quartet playing, having been a part of the Schuppazigh Quartet for many years. He also played in the Grassalkowicz and Lobkowicz courts.
