Antoine Domonick Wright (born February 6, 1984 in West Covina, California) is a pro basketball player. He was selected 15th overall in the 2005 NBA Draft by the New Jersey Nets (the highest pick from the Big 12 Conference and Texas A&M University history), after his junior year at Texas A&M University. He attended preparatory school at Lawrence Academy at Groton; in 2002, he led the Spartans to an Independent School League Basketball Championship.
[edit] NBA career
Wright has appeared in thirty-nine games for the Nets this season, averaging 1.8 points, 0.8 rebounds, 0.3 assists, and 9.5 minutes per game.
Wright started the season out in the inactive list and for most of the season he stayed there. As the season wore on he started getting minutes and was a part of the rotation. He was drafted out of college for his jumpshot but is only shooting 35% from the field.
Rod Thorn admitted that Wright was not NBA ready but also added he likes what he sees and coach Lawrence Frank has begun to trust Wright with significant game minutes as the season wore on.
Wright's 2006-2007 season is coming off to a better start. He is a big part of Lawrence Frank's rotation averaging 28.2mpg and chipping in 8.5ppg and 4.5rpg off the bench. Wright took the place of Richard Jefferson in the starting lineup after Jefferson injured his ankle against the Miami Heat.
