Anthony Weldon
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sir Anthony Weldon was an English 17th Century author who was well known as one of King James I of England's detractors. He was particularly anti-Scottish, and was known for his anti-Scottish writings.
James I had previously given Weldon his knighthood, and upon finding his racist writings, dismissed him from the court. In response to this, Weldon wrote a book entitled 'The Court and Character of King James I', in which James' Kingship was subsequently denounced [1]. This view, unfortunately for James, stuck throughout the 19th Century.
