Anthony Morris (I)

Anthony Morris (b. 23 August 1654, Stepney, London, England; d. 24 October 1721, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) was a Quaker preacher, judge, and Mayor of Philadelphia.
In 1692, he was appointed a judge of the courts of common pleas and quarter sessions, and of the orphans' court, of which he became the president judge, in 1693. In 1694 he was made a judge of the provincial supreme court, and he held his several judicial offices until 1698.
His son Anthony was elected mayor of Philadelphia in 1738.
