Ansonia High School

Ansonia High School is a public four-year high school located in Ansonia, Connecticut. It has approximately 683 students in grades 9 through grade 12. Out of those students, about 71.2 percent is Caucasian and 28.8 percent is minority. The school is accredited by the New England Association of Colleges, Secondary Schools, and the Connecticut State Department of Education.
Ansonia High School was originally located on the west side of the Naugatuck River. It was relocated to the east side of the river, where a new building opened in 1999. The previous building was turned into the new Ansonia Middle School.
The school year runs with two semesters and four marking periods. The minimum passing grade for the school is a 60.
There are 79 employees in the high school. The staff has an average of 13.9 years of experience. 80 percent have a master's degree and 42 percent trained for the Beginning Educator Support and Training (BEST) program as mentors, assessors, or cooperating teachers.

To graduate from the Ansonia High School, a student needs four credits in English, three in Social Studies (including history), two credits in Science, three credits in Math, one credit in a vocational education or Art, one credit in Physical Education, a half credit in Computer Applications, and a half credit in Health.

The Ansonia High School Football team has won a Connecticut record 15 State Championships. They won their most recent on December 2 2006 by defeating Bloomfield 34-12. Ansonia was coached by rookie coach Tom Brockett who in his first year led them to undefeated season winning not only the Class S state championship but also the NVL title. Ansonia is now #18 in the state.
