Annita Keating van Iersel

Annita Keating van Iersel (born in 1949 in the Netherlands) is the estranged wife of Paul Keating - a former prime minister of Australia.

Her birth name was Anna Johanna Maria van Iersel; however in recent press she appears to prefer the name Annita Keating van Iersel.

Annita was born in the Netherlands and met Mr Keating while working for Alitalia as a flight attendant.

The Keatings have four children:

• Patrick (1977)
• Caroline (1979)
• Katherine (1982)
• Alexandra (1985)

Annita and Paul Keating were married on 17 January 1975. Following her marital separation she made a claim in 2004 in the Australian magazine The Bulletin saying that Mr. Keating had told her in front of friends at a dinner party in 1998 that the marriage was over. As of April 2004 the Keatings had not yet divorced.
